The Month With Pumpkins

Hey everyone, my name is Sera and I can believe how big and important pumpkins are in this country. I could see pumpkins everywhere. It was amazing! We had an event called "Pumpkin Regatta".It was my first time to see big pumpkins, I was amazed. Those huge pumpkins were going to be boats. They had to look good and they had to be ready for the race. First we had to choose a topic for our pumpkin. It had to be something that the kids would enjoy, so we chose the ninja turtles. We carved our pumpkin so that our racers could get in. And than we painted our pumpkin in green and some of the international students(who were good at drawing) drew a ninja turtle face on the pumpkin. It looked fabulous. We worked as a team and had so much fun. At the end of the day every one of us had paint on our faces, including our coordinator. Here is a photo of our pumpkin and us.IMG_1250.jpg IMG_1269.jpg

The parade was fun. We were singing, and waving to other people. I think we were one of the loudest groups. We weren't the first ones to finish the race, but we weren't last either, I'm proud of our team. I didn't know that we could use pumpkins in so many different ways. My Thanksgiving dinner tasted really good. I had a pumpkin pie for dessert that day. I also have a photo with a pumpkin family. Pumpkin men were everywhere. After that week, you could see the haloween decorations coming out. Most of the houses had scary looking carved pumpkins.IMG_1487.jpg

In two weeks it was Halloween!! We had to go shopping. With my friends we went to a mall. There were shops full of costumes, and scary decorations. I was going to be a wicked witch. We bought our costumes, which it took us three hours to choose. We were to busy trying to scare each other. At the end of the day I was exhausted. Just one week before Halloween, our school had a movie night, that was open for everyone. They showed us two movies. The first one was a haloween movie for kids to enjoy. The second one was a horror movie. Also. at the same night, our volleyball team had a match. So me and my host sisters stayed after school and had dinner with our friends and watched the match. The movie was scary. But it wasn't the movie that made people scream, it was the ambiance. The lights were off and we were sitting on matts. Although, it was fun. On the halloween night we went trick or treating. I collected lots of candies. I'm still trying to finish them. Some people were very creative and even had decorated inside of their house. This month was full of pumpkins and lots of fun. I learn new things everyday in Canada and looking forward to learn more!
